Blueberries grow larger and darker (blacker) as they ripen. Among them, the sign of ripeness is that the base of the shaft (the connection point between the fruit and the shaft) is colored black. For those who want to eat sweeter fruits, choose ones that are large and plump and have a black color up to the base of the shaft.

Also, some fruits have white powder on the surface. This is called bloom, which is naturally secreted to prevent the fruit from drying out as it ripens. The more this bloom, the sweeter the blueberries.
